Cultivation Notes:

Aspect/Hardiness: Thrives in a sunny spot, fully frost hardy. Usually planted along path edges, though large clumps are stunning when planted in swathes in the garden.
Soil: Prefers a well drained soil with plenty of added compost, too much water could lead to defoliation and rotting.
Propagation: either division in spring or cutting of hardened material in summer can be used. Some catmints can be grown easily from seed, giving large quantities of plants easily for bigger displays. We have found cuttings are easy to grow and take readily.
Watering: Settle in with regular water, and then only if required.
Feeding: Moderate feeding is recommended in early spring with an organic slow release fertiliser.
Pruning: Prune hard after flowering to tidy, usually in late autumn. New growth will be seen at the crown. It is important to prune to renew this growth. Prune to ground in late autumn, remembering not to mulch the crown unless in very cold areas.
Pest & Disease free. The low growing groundcover varieties make an excellent weed   suppressor. Their pungent oils help in many gardens to deter insect pests, though we haven’t found that anything affects them.
Planting Companions: Sedums, Eryngiums, Roses, Dianthus, Grasses, Echinacea, Euphorbias. Our smaller Calaminthas are best planted on path edges where bruising by stepping on the foliage will provide with a lovely surprise for the passer-by.
